What is the cheapest a self-built desktop rig capable of running Battlefield 3 would cost?

Thinking of possibly buying parts for a desktop rig to run Battlefield 3 smoothly, or even just Bad Company 2 smoothly. Problem is, I'm really tight on funds, and hoping that a $500 - $600 budget would suffice. What is the average lowest price that a BF3-capable computer would cost? Thanks, general estimations are welcome :)

Note that I only need to purchase the tower unit; monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard and other peripherals aren't needed. What is the cheapest a self-built desktop rig capable of running Battlefield 3 would cost?
%26gt;I would say $650 to $700 is cheapest.
You'll really be cutting it for your budget. A 600 dollar computer will run BF3, but be outdated for the next game you play.

$1000 would be ideal, but I'd at least try to hold out for about $800 if you can. It'll make a world of difference, as most of that cost will go to your GPU.What is the cheapest a self-built desktop rig capable of running Battlefield 3 would cost?
About BF3, I cannot say yet because it's not released yet.

BFBC2 however, is a different story. A $600 PC could actually max out BFBC2 (with 2x AA) on 1920x1080.

Take a look at this build.

Yep, it's possible. Fit a 6790 or GTX 460 in there and you're good to go.What is the cheapest a self-built desktop rig capable of running Battlefield 3 would cost?
If you need to purchase all of that you'll need to drop more then 600. I would just suggest using a console.
