Can you play online Battlefield 3 if you buy only the 1st disc?

Battlefield 3 for xbox comes with 2 discs, would it work to only buy the online/multiplayer disc? Or do you need the 2nd disc for something? I understand the 2nd disc is the solo campaign disc but I dont care about that.Can you play online Battlefield 3 if you buy only the 1st disc?

yea u can still play you just need the online passcode it come with the game if not then you could buy it for 800 microsoft points
