Why Won't my xbox360 play battlefield 3 and other new games but it plays my old ones?

I bought battlefield 3 and took it back because I didn't work but it still does the same things?Why Won't my xbox360 play battlefield 3 and other new games but it plays my old ones?
Maybe your disk drive is dying. Have someone check it out for you. The xbox will eventually l die like it might have and only play certain games.
