Hi there, well basically your budget of $700 would not cut it to play BF3 in ultra at 1080p resolution, BUT you can play it on ultra at a lower resolution. Like my PC, I have a gtx 560 and a quad core 3.0 ghz 8gb RAM and I am practically playing BF3 on ultra settings on a 1600x900 resolution (max resolution of my 20" samsung LED syncmaster).

A good advice that I could give you, since graphics card are really impt in gaming then you should get a good one, the cheapest possible that you can get is the 6850 which is only a step down compared to the gtx 560 but significantly cheaper at around $150-$160 (the gtx 560 is $200),

next is your processor, if you cannot afford the i5-2500, then just get the cheaper i5-2400 and a cheap gigabyte mobo h61 chipset lga 1155 socket(around $50). Make your ram 8gb ddr3 1333 mhz since they are cheap anyway and they work better in pairs.

your psu definitely must be a branded one like corsair to avoid problems that comes with cheap generic ones. The 6850's power requirement is 500w so a 600w +80 corsair builder is ideal which is around $70.

with this build, you can play BF3 in ultra at a lower setting like 1600x900 on an average of 40FPS.

And the rest is up to you :D

BTW, prices are from newegg.

edit : another thing I forgot is that if you wanted lower the cost of this build then you could just get the best budget processor for gaming, the core I3-2100 (3.1 ghz) which is only $125 at newegg, but definitely don't go very cheap on your graphics card okay :DWhat computer can play Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings?
Get a 6950, an i3-2100 or a Phenom II x4, a good 600W OCZ power supply, 8gb of RAM and a compatible motherboard with a 500gb hard drive, and you'll have a decent BF3 machine.

It'll cost more than $700 though. You might want to go for a 6870 and an overclocked Athlon II x3 instead.

EDIT: Guy below me has a pretty good guide too. My 6850 kicks but at 1360x768What computer can play Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings?
$700.. won't be enough. It'd cost at least around $1250 to play it on Ultra. This would be a general setup for it:

i5 2500k (overclocked at least a little)

AMD 6950

At least 4GB of RAM

And the rest doesn't really matter, in terms of performance.
955BE/i3 2100 700w seasonic %26amp; Nvidia 570 will max it out. Providing you're just wanting to upgrade you existing system
